I have tutored thousands of students over the past twelve years; 99% of them have increased their verbal scores on standardized tests. I have helped students on tests including SAT, ACT, LSAT, ISEE, SSAT, GMAT, GRE, as well as AP and SAT Subject Tests. I tutor in person and via Skype, helping students from across the country and across the world, including many private schools in Cleveland, as well as Exeter, Horace Mann, Tory Pines of San Diego, the American Overseas Schools of Florence and Tokyo. In addition to private test preparation, I conduct seminars and bootcamps throughout the country. I have assisted hundreds of students with college essays, writing projects, resumes, and interviewing skills. I grew up in Columbus, Georgia, attended a public high school, and used my academic gifts to help pay for college and law school. I graduated valedictorian of my Newcomb College class at Tulane University in l982, Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude, with Honors in Political Science I was a Wigmore Scholar at Northwestern University School of Law in 1982, and I finished my law school degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in l985, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1985, and I worked privately for the law firm of Ulmer, Berne before being appointed as a federal court clerk to Justice Thomas Lambros of the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio .While raising four children, and doing extensive volunteer work at their schools, I did freelance corporate writing and editing, and co- authored From Diploma to Dream Job, which was published in 2012. I have also edited several cookbooks and authored online travel articles about living in Italy, where I resided with my family for almost two years.

I encourage grit.
My goal is to provide access and incentive for students to prepare for a successful college process and beyond. Therefore, I have assisted many school districts and community organizations with test preparation, providing access to an online learning module and helping to recruit mentors to administer the programs. Several former professional athletes have joined my cause and have provided such support.
Some of the groups include:

"Mauri is one of the major reasons I was accepted to Vanderbilt. Her tutoring style and essay help made all the differences."
– Mason, ACT 26 up to 32
Perhaps my greatest experience was helping my own four children navigate the college process. They all went from good scores to great ones. With hard work, they soared to Stanford, Northwestern, Emory, Tufts, Syracuse, Semester at Sea, and The University of New South Wales. They continue to be my best teachers.
